Series of unfortunate events aka my trip home from work

13 Sep

I would like to tell you about my trip home from work today aka how I spent my half day vacation!
I decided that it would be nice to take a half day vacation today, because working till 8pm sucks! I had all these hopes and dreams of the stuff I was going to do, places I was going to see and so on… Well little did I know….
So 4pm comes around and I say goodbye to everyone before I frolic out the door! The bus is on time!!! We are off to a great start, right?? NO! As soon as the bus is on the ramp to enter HWY 401 (no way to turn back) the announcement comes from dispatch that the highway is closed between where we are and the next exit!! Shit! I think to myself! So here we are hanging out on the highway, not really moving anywhere ( Thank god angry man who you met in my previous posts wasn’t on it)… So about 2 hours later ( this part of journey should have only taken 30mins) the bus finally arrives at the subway station. On to the bigger and better things here, right? NOPE! The subway is delayed of course! A fire somewhere lol… Of course what else would it be???? 15 mins later subway arrives… Nothing can ever go wrong from here, not till I have I get on the next form of transportation that is! So the time comes to get on the streetcar! By this time I’ve lost all hope, thinking to myself how I should have stayed at work and that the work spirits are punishing me for having the audacity to leave early! And of course SHOCKER there is a disabled streetcar ahead. And everyone in Toronto knows that once there is a stalled streetcar it means no one behind it is moving! So we all get off, and at this point I hail a cab!! I am convinced that now nothing stands between me and home, just smooth sailing from here! YEAH SMOOTH SAILING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION! Cabbie too busy talking on his phone makes a wrong turn! After a brief argument the driver agrees to reset the meter and we are now traveling in the correct direction and I can feel my home within my reach! I made it! I’ve never been so happy to be home like I am right now! Oh home sweet home! 3.5 hours later I have finally reached you!

Moral of the story is: Do not ever ever ever leave work early! Don’t even try, because it will do you no good!

P.S I wish I was doing this right now to counteract all the stress I had to endure!!

Angry man vol.2

1 Oct

Angry man was back on the bus today!!! I was so excited that I almost went up to him and told him how much I’ve missed him! But I decided to contain myself :). But he wasn’t angry today…

OK i am totally kidding! He was totally angry. Turns out he was late to get to the bus stop, so he had to wait for the next bus which GASP was totally full! How is one supposed to handle that? Request for an additional bus of course. This is how it went (this is what he was telling the lady standing next to him):

” I CAN’T BELIEVE THE BUS WASN’T THERE WHEN I WAS ONLY ONE MINUTE LATE! AND NOW THIS BUS IS COMPLETELY FULL. I JUST CALLED MISSISSAUGA TRANSIT TO GET AN EXTRA BUS. I ALSO ASKED THEM TO ADD MORE BUSES TO THIS ROUTE. THEY TOLD ME TO WRITE TO MY MP IF I WANT THAT. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WRITE TO HIM? I DONT LIVE IN MISSISSAUGA, I DIDNT VOTE FOR HIM. GODDDDD THIS IS SO RIDICULOUS. @$#%$^%& “.

Why is this man always so angry??? How can a person go through life being so angry? And why does he have such outrageous demands?? Share your thoughts!

P.S Please forgive my great MS Paint skills lol

Why is weird stuff not happening???

24 Sep

So before i started writing this blog, weird stuff on transit was happening to me on a regular basis. Ever since i started writing this, all of a sudden everyone became super normal!! What the hell!! Life is not the same without weird stuff… So i am going to start writing about random stuff and somehow relate it to transit. Like, “this one day i was not too far from a bus stop, which is the property of public transit”, or “i encountered this weird person today, who i am sure earlier in the day took the subway”… that will work, right? Like for example last night i was up most of the night because a raccoon family was having a picnic outside of my window on the roof. I am sure they had to pass a bus stop (for public transit) to get to my house! Worst part… they were not scared of my banging on the window or me making scary faces. I am sure just to spite me they invited all the other neighborhood raccoons to hang out on the roof. I will let you know if more come tonight… If i make it out alive. I should ask for my best friend’s boyfriend to come over, because he is very well versed in getting rid of raccoons. But then again i dont want to smell mothballs all over the place (just to clarify, my best friend’s boyfriend does not smell like mothballs, he used mothballs to scare off raccoons)… ok I will just stop right here…

That is the roof outside of my window where raccoons hang out at night!!

Escalator lesson learnt #1

11 Sep

Do not wear open toe sandals and run up the escalator… thats the lesson i learnt today. This didn’t happen on transit, but it happened in a subway station so i guess this still related to transit! I was running late this morning and as soon as i got off the subway i proceeded to run up the moving escalator to catch my bus!! What a bad idea it was… I didnt lift my foot high enough the sole of my sandal cought oh the step and i prodeeded to fall up the steps! To make the situation worse, i hit my both big toes against the steps and bruising them pretty bad in the process! But the worst part was since this was during the rush hour, i proceeded to cause a mild pile-up on the escalator!! Needless to say after i magaged to get up and leave the escalator i did not look back or sideways, because i was beyond embarassed!! I also spent the whole day being afaraid of stairs. I am obviously not the most coordinated person!! Share your emarassing stories with me!
